RAY WILLIAMS: Wood turning
category image

Nothing compares to the beauty of natural wood. Especially when transformed into useful and decorative objects by the hand of a skilled wood turner.

Ray Williams. I started woodturning over 40 years ago as a holiday job between college sessions. And now after semi-retirement from the construction industry I am turning again with new skills and ideas.
I have attended courses and workshop sessions with professional turners Jimmy Clewes and Tony Wilson together with many club demonstrations and training sessions. I exhibited some of my early work at the Sam Scorer Gallery in Lincoln in 2006.
My aim is to produce work that is artistic rather than solely of practical use.
I prefer turning local timber “straight from the tree” with pieces that capture history and reason for felling. The finished form will dry and move naturally. Bark, sapwood, and inclusions will often be present. Although each piece is individual, commissions are welcome.

As this is new for the end room items have yet to be photographed but as soon as they are available they will be put on line. So please vist us again.
